The decimal representation for the fraction 1/3 is 0.3333 . . . where the three dots indicate that the threes continue without end. This repetition of digits can be set up in the other direction to create . . . 3333. This does not look like any natural number since there are infinitely many threes. In this presentation, we introduce the techniques used in showing the relationship between 1/3 and 0.3333 . . . along with the basic ideas associated with modular ten arithmetic. These are then used to give meaning to . . . 3333 and other repeating integers having this form.
